The Colors of Fall

On our return from Charleston, SC, we drove through Maggie Valley, NC and also drove through the Great Smoky Mountains! I had to share some of the beautiful scenery we saw on our trip back home. The colors of Fall are truly remarkable. From the golds to the bright reds, the colors of Fall are breathtaking.

Although the pictures are gorgeous, it is even more spectacular in person! I hope everyone else is enjoying this amazing Fall season!! :)

Vacation Recap

Oh, how I forgot how much I miss Charleston, South Carolina! Nathan and I were busy this past week while vacationing there. Charleston is such a beautiful, magical city. Downtown is full of amazing architecture, history, shopping, and more. The atmosphere is radiant. I love going to visit my family and friends that still live there. :)

While Nathan and I were in town, we went to Magnolia Plantation & Gardens with my rents. This is the place where Nathan and I got married back in 2009. <3 It was so much fun walking around the plantation and reminiscing about our wedding day.

We all took the nature tour and saw plenty of wildlife. Gators, herons, egrets, etc. It was a perfect day to spend at the plantation!

We also had the chance to check out Drayton Hall with a good friend of ours while we were in town:

Of course, we had to stop by the beach as well:

It was a wonderful time hanging out with family and friends. However, a week (while on vacation) goes by too quickly. We were sad to leave, but we know we'll be back again! :)

Happy Birthday Riley!

5 years ago today, Nathan and I rescued our cat, Riley. A co-worker found the eight kittens abandoned at a cemetery, and brought them all into work and found homes for each kitten. Riley was the runt of the litter, and one of the two out of the eight kittens who survived. I fell in love with him at first sight, obviously, and Nathan did too, so we brought him home with us!

When we brought Riley home, we didn't have any cat toys etc., but we did have a little plush turtle, so that was his first "toy" and since then, it has been his security blanket. He always has his turtle with him.

Now, here he is five years later:

Riley really is our furbaby. He is a part of our family and we absolutely adore him. We consider October 13th to be his Birthday. We bought Riley a couple of gifts and some special cat food to "celebrate" his Birthday:

Here are some pics of his little Birthday celebration from this morning:

A delicious dish of soft cat food, with a candle (never lit):

Riley absolutely loved it all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RILEY!!!!

Busy Bee

This month has been crazy busy! It's been nothing but WORK, WORK, WORK! I bet most of you can relate to that!

I have been super excited for Halloween! I've done some decorating at the house and I have really been enjoying seeing all of the Halloween and Fall decorations around town.

Here are a few pictures of my October so far:

MINI pumpkins:

A few spiders in our front yard have been helping us decorate for Halloween...

In between work, I was able to attend the DAR "National Night Out" event!

The DAR ladies at our event honoring our service members and veterans:

One of our local news channels - WBIR - covered our event! See the video at the link below:

It hasn't been the most interesting month so far, but it has been busy! I'm still trying to decide what I want to be for Halloween, if I'm able to dress up at all! Any ideas???
